The partnership began soon after Kurt Flionis, a Vice President at STAG and member of the firm's charitable action committee, was traveling and thinking about how the company could become more active in the community. While on an airplane, Kurt asked the person next to him if she knew of a nonprofit organization making a real impact on children in poverty in the Boston area. The individual replied without hesitation, "Room to Grow".
After a discussion with STAG's charitable action committee, Kurt would lead STAG to support the organization in multiple ways. Continued involvement has allowed STAG to develop an understanding of Room to Grow's unique model of providing both individualized parenting support and material goods. STAG has enabled Room to Grow to welcome new families to the program each year through financial donations, and has made material contributions by donating baby essentials, purchasing items from the organization's Amazon wish list and holding company-wide collection drives for gently-used baby items. Also, STAG's employees help process in-kind donations of clothes, toys, books and gear to make them available for the children in the program.
Benjamin Butcher, CEO of STAG, reflected on the relationship, "On multiple levels the engagement with Room to Grow has allowed STAG to make an impact in our local community. Broad employee participation strengthens STAG's ability to support Room to Grow's mission, and from a corporate perspective the partnership communicates our commitment to charitable activities."

We are so grateful for HMH's partnership in helping to provide babies born in poverty with the critical foundation needed for a bright future.

Toothbrushes and Dental Hygiene
Providing children with toothbrushes to help establish healthy routines is an important part of Room to Grow’s program. Special thanks to Boston partners Chestnut Dental Associates and Pediatric Dental Associates of Reading and Winchester, and New York partners NYU College of Dentistry and LLM Dental Associates for their donations of toddler toothbrushes and toothpaste.

B kids and Blue Box Toys
B kids and Blue Box Toys donated hundreds of toys to Room to Grow following a successful holiday shopping campaign. 5% of the sale of their toys purchased from participating retailers October 1, 2014 through January 1, 2015, contributed towards a toy donation for the children in our program in New York and Boston. B kids line of toys for infant, toddlers and preschoolers fits with our work to promote learning through play. At every visit, each child enrolled in Room to Grow's program receives educational, age-appropriate toys while parents receive instruction on how to engage in active play with their children. With the support and generosity from B kids and Blue Box Toys, we are able to continue distributing educational toys to Room to Grow children and help them meet important developmental milestones in their critical first three years of life.

We are thrilled Tommee Tippee is supporting our breastfeeding initiative and nutrition program.

In 2013, Room to Grow plans to welcome 100 new babies, expand its client program by 15% and expand its volunteer program by 20%. Room to Grow in Boston honored Paul Grogan, president and CEO of The Boston Foundation, at its annual Fall Gala, held on December 7, 2012, at the Westin Copley Place. In response to our summer reading campaign, Scholastic donated a tremendous gift of 10,000 books in both English and Spanish to Room to Grow in New York and Boston. This incredible contribution will help us provide 10 books to each child at every visit, building a home library of 130 books during their three years in the program. Many children who grow up in poverty lack these essential reading materials and encouragement, which is why Room to Grow has instilled such a strong emphasis on literacy. We depend on individual and corporate in-kind donations, like the one from Scholastic, to help parents nurture their child with early exposure to books and to create a strong foundation for school success. Scholastic's company motto is “Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life.” We couldn’t agree more, which is why Room to Grow social workers talk with parents about the importance of reading and model ways to incorporate books into their babies’ daily routine. For more information about our program and statistics about how poverty affects literacy, click here. Special thanks also to Andrews McMeel Publishing, Candlewick Press, First Book Manhattan, Imago USA, Kidsbooks, Lerner Books, and our in-kind donors in New York and Boston for their generous donations of books during our summer 2011 reading campaign.

For One in New York
Room to Grow is delighted to partner with For One in New York, a grassroots initiative whose mission is to assist select charitable programs focused on the welfare of local children, "by providing modest gifts that can impact their future - one child, one family at a time." In early spring, Founder and Director Linn Tanzman reached out to Room to Grow in New York and offered her support. She proposed For One Baby in New York, a special program to help provide the critical items that we cannot accept as donations or do not receive in sufficient supply. Since then, we have been able to provide cribs, breastpumps and art supplies to the families in our program. We are so grateful to Linn for her support in our work to help parents provide fully for their baby in an immediate and meaningful way.

Since 2008 Mary Nada has been a passionate supporter of Room to Grow in Boston. With great enthusiasm she has inspired countless others to support Room to Grow's mission. Last fall, to celebrate a special birthday, Mary challenged herself to ride 100 miles in the Rodman Ride for Kids. Impressively, Mary overcame an injury to accomplish her ambitious goal and also raised over $20,000 for Room to Grow! Recently, Mary co-hosted a fundraiser at designer Sarah Campbell's South End studio. We are extremely proud to have Mary as an ambassador and are grateful for her support.
