Storytime with Author Alyssa Reynoso-Morris

We welcomed author Alyssa Reynoso-Morris to our South Bronx Family Center on Wednesday, August 16 for a special reading of her beloved book, Plátanos are Love. This delicious picture book highlights the different ways plantains shape Latinx culture, community, and family through a young girl’s experiences in the kitchen with her Abuela.

Reynoso-Morris also discussed the importance of representation in early literature and access to stories that embrace different cultures with Room to Grow families in attendance. The impact of multicultural stories on young readers is profound, helping to foster a sense of identity and promoting inclusivity. Attendees had the chance to chat with the Bronx-born author and ask her about her journey to publishing her first book and sharing her culture with readers.

Thank you again to Alyssa Reynoso-Morris for joining us and to our partner Little Spoon for providing tasty snacks for our littlest listeners.
