What We Do

For more than 20 years, Room to Grow’s three-year program has provided critical support to families raising babies born into low-income circumstances. We provide parents and caregivers with essential baby and toddler items, strategies and support to promote their children’s development, and connections to community resources that can meaningfully expand their support network. Our dynamic, wrap-around approach addresses the multitude of needs facing parents raising children in these earliest years, and provides the surest opportunity for establishing a strong foundation in life.

Program Structure

13 Visits Over 3 Years
Families have their first visit during their last trimester of pregnancy. From there, they meet one-on-one with program staff every three months until their children turn three. Each visit is two hours long and is held at one of our Family Centers in Boston or New York.

1st Half of Visit
Families meet with program staff to talk through the challenges and joys of early parenthood, discuss their children's development, and brainstorm strategies and resources that support family goals.

2nd Half of Visit
Families and program staff continue conversations in our baby boutique, where parents and caregivers choose the clothes, books, toys, and other items that will be useful for their children until the next visit.

In Between Visits
Program staff are available by phone, text, or email to support families as needed. Parents reach out to us for many reasons — to discuss parenting strategies, such as sleep training support, or to share news of their baby’s growth and development.
