Kim Furey joined Room to Grow in 2023 as the Executive Director of the Chicago region. Throughout her career, Kim has been dedicated to empowering communities and transforming public policies through innovative social programs. Kim began her own non-profit endeavor, Super 7 Girls, and, for more than a decade, worked to help hundreds of young girls, offering them access to curriculum in seven critical areas designed to break the cycle of generational poverty. During her tenure as the CEO and Founder of Super 7 Girls, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, consistently achieving organizational growth, sustainability, and success. Her strategic acumen has not only expanded the organization's outreach but has also enhanced its influence and fostered a culture of excellence. Prior to embarking on a career in the nonprofit sector, Kim studied and earned degrees from Spelman College and the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. In her relentless pursuit of meaningful change, Kim also dedicates her time to volunteering with institutions such as the Chicago Food Depository, Princeton Mentor Collective, and Meals on Wheels. She also serves as a court-appointed special advocate. Kim contributes her expertise to the boards of Concordia Place and the Association of Black Princeton Alumni, as well as organizations such as Delta Sigma Theta, Chicago Women in Philanthropy, and the Junior League.
